Our History
New Beginnings Baptist Church opened its doors at the Tillicum Native Centre on January 1st, 1990, welcoming anyone in East Vancouver with a message of hope and love through friendship with God. From the beginning, the church has articulated its vision to reach out to First Nations people, low-income families, single-parent families, children at risk, individuals struggling with addictions, and the lonely.
NBBC has been actively engaging with the inner-city community through the dedication of missional workers and pastors, ensuring its outreach efforts remain impactful and compassionate. On August 1, 2009, New Beginnings was blessed with a new church location at 1587 Frances St., a space generously provided by Pacific Grace Chinese Mennonite Brethren Church. From this location, NBBC continues to reach the community through discipleship, family ministry, and youth programs.
Currently, NBBC continues its outreach through weekly community meals, a weekly movie night, and God’s Pantry, which serves approximately 50 families and individuals in need. Looking ahead, NBBC is preparing to launch additional weekly outreach programs, including a Bible Club for Youth and Missional Taekwondo, creating even more opportunities to engage the community, foster relationships, and share the love of Christ.
